Navigating the Rollercoaster Journey of a Writer's Life

I don't know how other writers cope with writing a story, but I sometimes struggle
to get back to reality, especially if my story is taking longer than usual to complete.
For example - I've recently released the fourth instalment of my zombie novel series - CLIFTON FALLS - but it was tough to not constantly think about zombies, especially when I was trying to sleep. Maybe I should write something less violent and scary? Maybe then I will dream about cuddly teddy bears and fluffy pillows - hahaha -
If only!
One of the most annoying parts for me is waking up in the middle of the night
because an idea has suddenly entered my mind. Why does it happen then? Leave
me alone so I can get some sleep - However, the enjoyment soon takes over once
I've finished writing my idea down at 4:00 am.
HAPPY DAYS!
I don't know if it's the same for other writers but I still need to write screenplays for
ideas I'd written in my little blue book over 20-years ago. Some ideas take years to
develop inside my mind before I'm able to write them as either a novel or a
screenplay. My released books were all from childhood memories that had been
floating inside my mind.
I think it's easier to write movie scripts to get an idea before attempting a novel
version. Does anyone else think the same?
